Senior executives at c-suite and board level are now responsible for Business Continuity (BC) plans at 25% of UK organisations, up from 21% in 2015, according to the Databarracks Data Health Check 2019 study. However, while IT involvement is decreasing gradually, but IT leaders are still by far the most likely to oversee BC plans, the report found.
Data Health Check surveyed more than 400 management decision-makers on a range of critical issues relating to IT, security, disaster recovery and business continuity practices. From a BC planning perspective, key findings include:
- 25% of respondents said IT directors are in charge of BC plans, down from 27% in 2015
- 17% said IT managers are in charge, down from 22% in 2015.
- 13% of those polled say they ‘Don’t know’ who is in charge of their organisation’s BC plan – a slight increase on 2015’s 11%.
Surprisingly, perhaps, only 56% of the businesses quizzed by Databarracks say they have an ‘IT representative’ on their boards or c-suites.
